HOW DO WE SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS?
In the EdSource Study titled, "Gaining Ground in the Middle Grades: Why Some Schools Do Better," they found that high achieving schools "extensive use of multiple early academic intervention, collaboration between subject-area and intervention teachers, required intervention strategies, and voluntary academic support correlated with higher student achievement" (2010, pgs. 1-2). Citrus Hills Intermediate School is committed to providing a strong educational program which will ensure student success in achieving their college and career goals.
We continue to offer a variety of structures to support our students.
After-school study hall is available every Tuesday and Thursday for one hour. A teacher will be present to assist students with questions regarding their homework. Attendance can be voluntary and in some cases involuntary.
The Subject Area Intervention Classes will take place through the year during our Success For Schools (SFS) class for students who haven't demonstrated mastery of key concepts yet. Teachers will identify students knowledge of the key concepts and standards taught throughout the year in each of the four core subject areas using common formative assessments (CFAs). Based on the results of these CFAs, targeted intervention will be provided for students in need of the additional time and support.
Academic Saturday School provides our students with four hours of additional item to catch up on missing assignments. This opportunity is available on many Saturdays throughout the year and can be assigned to students by their parents, teachers, and/or administration.
