Jaguar Family,
My name is Jon Shaw, and I am blessed to serve the as the new principal of Citrus Hills intermediate. It is an honor to join this wonderful community and lead our school into a New a Era. The 24-25 school year begins on Tuesday, August 13th. My number 1 priority as your principal is to make Middle School Meaningful.
To our students, Middle school is a crucial time in our your lives. It is a period of significant growth and change, where students develop the habits and skills that will carry them through high school and beyond. My top priorities are to ensure that every student feels safe and supported, and to provide an optimal learning environment where they can thrive.
We are dedicated to making our school an engaging and fun place where students not only learn but also grow. This is where you will form a strong work ethic, build strong relationships, and develop skills that will serve you as you enter high school.
Parents, I need your help to make middle school meaningful. Hold your student accountable. Maintain high standards for behavior and high expectations for academics because just as good habits will develop, bad habits will flourish and be difficult to rectify later. Emphasize the importance of learning; make studying normal and following the rules cool. Let’s build smart, passionate, kind little humans together. We love your kids and want every single one of them to be successful at Citrus Hills, in high school, and in life. It takes a village to raise a child. You have my commitment that I will do everything in my power to see your student succeed, but I can't do it alone. I need your support.
I need your support in achieving these goals and in reinforcing important policies. First, we have implemented a new cell phone policy. Our policy is "Off and Away All Day." Cell phones and ear buds are to be off and in a backpack from the moment students set foot on campus until they leave campus. This policy is designed to minimize distractions, reduce social pressure and bullying, and ensure that students are fully present during their learning time. By keeping cell phones off and away, we can create an environment where students are focused on their education and focused on building positive relationships face to face with their peers.
In addition, we have reinforced our tardy policy. It is essential that students are in class on time to receive the most from their instruction. Arriving late can disrupt the learning process for both the tardy student and their classmates. By being punctual, students can maximize their educational opportunities and develop a sense of responsibility and time management. Please review our policy regarding tardies. Classes begin at 8:00am sharp. Please plan accordingly.
Parents, please have a conversation with your student regarding these policies. Remember, our goal is to develop good habits and give your student an excellent education. Throughout the school year, we will offer a variety of programs, activities, and incentives designed to support these goals. From academic clubs and sports teams to arts programs and educational field trips, there is something for every Jaguar to get involved and explore their interests.
I look forward to working closely with parents and students to make this year a successful and memorable one for all. Together, we can help them build a solid foundation for future success.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Go Jags!!
